Internal Affairs Minisrtty and KGB call in relatives of detained oppositionists for questioning

1

Law-enforcing agencies of Belarus, in particular the Internal Affairs ministry and the KGB (State Security Committee) have demonstrated unbelievable zeal in arresting former and actual opposition activists, as well as representatives of human rights organisations.

At the moment the matter concerns 13 arrested, who are suspected of implication in the terroristic attack in Minsk on July 4, AFN writes.

Today investigative bodies haven’t confined themselves to detentions and searches in apartments of the oppositionists. They have started to summon relatives of the arrested citizens for questioning.

For instance, parents of the former member of the organisation Bely Lehiyon (White Legion) Miraslau Lazouski have been summoned for interrogation by investigator of the City Internal Affairs department Charnikau. Miraslau Lazouski was arrested on July 8. Lazouski’s wife, a deputy head of the World Association of Belarusians "Batskaushchyna" (or "Fatherland") Nina Shydlouskaya, has reported about that.

Besides, today at a press-conference in the head office of the Belarusian Popular Front party, held in connection with the massive arrests, Volha Korsak, a sister of the activist Ihar Korsak detained in Minsk, was absent. Shydlouskaya does not rule out that V. Korsak had been called in for questioning as well.
