General director of Zhdanovichy shopping center let out on bail left for London

Yauheni Shyhalau, general director of Zhdanovichy shopping center, on the permission of law-enforcing agencies left for London for treatment for reasons of health.
As we have informed, on June 26 Yauheni Shyhalau was let out on bail of Br 10 bn. As the BelaPAN agency was told in the Internal Affairs Ministry, there were no problems with transferring the bail. Otherwise the businessman wouldn’t have been sanctioned to leave.
The term for which Shyhalau is let out of the country hasn’t been revealed.
Yauhen Shyhalau and his assistants were detained in Minsk on April 5. They were charged under Article 424 part 3 of the Criminal Code of Belarus “abuse of official position”.
Y. Shyhalau was under treatment in the cardiological center before his release on bail. His ward was watched by police all the time. Before the arrest he had two heart attacks and was operated.
Under Article 124 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, bail money is placed by a suspect or by other physical persons upon deposit of a preliminary investigation body or a court. The sum of the bail is determined by the agency carrying out the criminal process and using this measure of restraint, considering the gravity of the crime, the personality of a suspect or an accused, property status of a depositor, but no less then 100 basic units. A bail is used in case of a full redress of material wrong caused by the crime. A bail is not used for persons suspected or accused of any especially grave crimes or grave crimes of violence.
In case a suspect or an accused defaults when summoned by a prosecuting agency or a court, the measure of restraint is changed for a stricter one. On a court decision the bail becomes a revenue of the state.
