Today a member of the Belarusian Popular Front party, a possible candidate for deputy in Kobryn electoral district No.12 Alyaksandr Mekh was summoned to Kobryn police department.

In an interview to radio Svaboda he explained that a criminal investigator Zmitser Shushkou was interested about his whereabouts on July 3. Besides, policemen fingerprinted the civil activist and insisted he should pass a saliva test.

“I refused and demanded to show an official document,” Mr. Mekh said. “Policemen stated that they have such a document, but it is secret. Then I wrote an explanatory note saying I refused to make saliva test, as that demand wasn’t supported by documents.

As said by Alyaksandr Mekh, beside him an activist of the Belarusian Popular Front party and a civil activist Alyaksandr Strachuk, and Yauhen Lukyanchanka were summoned as well. Both were demanded written explanations and fingerprinted.

Yauhen Lukyanchanka works in the district electoral commission. Alyaksandr Strachuk is a member of an initiative group of Alyaksandr Mekh.

“It’s a part of the election campaign carried out by the recent regime in Belarus. It is a moral pressure, a very serious one. And all that had been made up beforehand,” Mekh said.

As we have informed, after Beltransgaz ingénue, a BPF member Alyaksandr Mekh decided to take part in the parliamentary election, he was dismissed.
