BPF activists drafted to army collectively

Ales Kalita, the leader of Moladz BNF, a youth branch of the Belarusian Popular Front, is to arrive to the military unit No.30151 in Fanipal for military service for a regular term. Kalita is to become a soldier for a year and a half.

He is not the only one Moladz BNF activist who has been drafted in summer. Yury Dzyashuk is to serve in the internal troops in Minsk, Zmitser Byalyaeu in communication troops in Hrodna, Fyodar Charankou from Mozyr. Franak Vyachorka and Anton Kalinouski have been found unfit, Nasha Niva informs.

Ales Kalita says: “It’s a pity I won’t be able to be here, to help my friends in struggle. But I am thinking what could I do in the army. First I would like to carry out a test of military statutes in comparison with international documents signed by Belarus. I will demand to receive orders in Belarusian”.

Earlier Mahilyou district draft commission found Ales Kalita him unfit for service because of a heart problem (16 mm cardiac wall’s outpouching). However the regional commission sent him for additional check-up to the Central Military Medical commission in Minsk. After a check-up there the stage of the heart problem was found much less serious (5 mm).

Franak Vyachorka proposed to create a website “Our people in the army” to publish news of the military units where democratic activists service.

As we have informed, Illya Bohdan has served a 10-days arrest in a remand prison as a suspect in the blast in Minsk on July 4. Though he had been released, he is still a suspect.

A regular session of Moladz BNF is to take place on October 19, where new leadership of the organisation is to be elected.
