Skrabets doesn’t want to take part in “pre-election show”

The first deputy chairman of the Central Council of the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada) Syarhei Skrabets who planned to run in the “parliamentary election”, changed his mind.

In the statement of the politician it is noted that “the list of the next “chamber of representatives of the national assembly” was rubberstamped by Lukashenka a year ago. In Lida election district No. 54 where I am nominated, Tamara Kleban “had been appointed a deputy”. She is the head of the economy department of Lida regional executive committee.

“Unprecedented pressure was exerted at my initiative group. Local authorities in Lida’s behaviour is inadequate. Criminal cases have been brought up against two members of my initiative group,” he said.

“I cannot run for a seat in the parliament in such conditions, and I withdraw from the pre-election show,” the politician said. Syarhei Skrabets has also called upon “all who faced lawlessness of the executive power” follow his example.
