One of Young Font leaders arrested

Artsyom Dubski, one of the Young Front leaders, was arrested in Asipovichy and guarded to militia department handcuffed.
Artsyom managed to phone to Young Front deputy head Artur Finkevich and tell militia officers were guarding him to the militia department. Militiamen said to Artsyom he had been detained on suspicion of committing a crime according to article 216 of the Criminal Code.
Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus “Damaging property without theft” provides fine and imprisonment up to 3 years.
According to Artsyom Dubski, he doesn’t understand what he is accused of. Militiamen didn’t explain why they suspected Artsyom, but said he would be kept in temporary detection facility for three days, after that he would be transferred to a pretrial detention center. It should be reminded that Artsyom is service his punishment on the case of 14 – two years of restraint of liberty without sending to penal institutions.
As it has become known, pastor of protestant church Ernest Sabila, who lives in Asipovichy and knows Artsyom Dubski well, was seized a computer, which allegedly may be useful for investigation.
The Young Front says ungrounded detentions of Young Front activists during the election campaign and during the boycott campaign demonstrate panic fear of the regime of rigging the election results.
“We have already passed through repressions, intimidations, prisons, so they won’t stop us by these methods. Boycott-2008 campaign is gathering pace every day, and we will tie up the loose ends in any case!” Young Front deputy head Artur Finkevich said.
