Manifestations against nuclear power were held in Copenhagen (Denmark) at the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Nuclear power is not a way to respond to climate change, because it is dangerous for health and environment, needs constant expanses and doesn’t lead to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the participants of the forum think.
“Do not Make Climate Nuclear!” – a banner with this slogan was hung out on Bella Center. As BelaPAN reports, this call was mentioned in the declaration of the 2009 climate forum, at a demonstration on December 12 attended by 100,000 people , and within the frames of other actions of NGOs.
Belarusian participants of the events, among them the Belarusian Anti-Nuclear Coalition, demanded to stop building the nuclear power plant in the country. A poster “Astravets Nuclear Plant – No, Thank You” was hung out on the bridge near the parliament building in Copenhagen. On December 13, Sunday, an international group of demonstrators with a poster Stop NPP in Belarus gathered in front of the building, where the forum is held, and on December 14, the same poster was noticed during an action at a conference in Bella Center.
