The Belarusian leader illegally occupies the position of the president of the National Olympic Committee.
The matter is that Lukashenka seems to have forgotten that his full term in the position of the president of the National Olympic Committee has expired. As noted by blogger dyk_by, members of the Olympic executive committee in their turn are most likely to fear to bring up this issue, or are embarrassed, or they are simply satisfied with the situation.
In the issue of the Belarusian sports newspaper “Pressball” of December 29, summing up the results of the year a journalist Barys Tasman asks:
“Out of the multitude of questions which hadn’t been solved in the last year, two questions are especially important. When the OLYMPIC MEETING would take place at last? It is not only to sum up the results and plan future development of the Belarusian sport, but also to solve key organizing issues about election of the new National Olympic Committee president and the new make-up the executive committee?
