- 29.05.2009, 11:29
Proceedings in the case of an activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Maxim Dashuk are to start in the court of Maskouski district of Minsk.
The trial is to begin at 2.15 p.m. Minor Maxim Dashuk, one of the persons involved in the “Case of Fourteen”, faces charges of violating the conditions of serving the sentence. Under Article 415 of the Criminal Code he faces an imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years.
The activist was filed a charge on February 23, 2009. Before that law-enforcers issued a few warnings to Dashuk for violation of the order of serving the sentence (house arrest).
The oppositionist told the press-centre of the Charter’97 about the reasons of the arrest: “All the warnings had been issued only for my absence at home at required time. I was allowed to leave the house for two hours a day only, but I have to help my mother, as our father died in April. I didn’t have job, as I am underage, and besides I have no Minsk registration”.
It should be reminded that in 2008, minor Maksim Dashuk was sentenced to 1.5 years of restriction of liberty without sending to a correctional facility for participation in a protest rally of entrepreneurs.
Amnesty International recognized Maxim Dashuk a prisoner of conscience. The statement by the organization mentions his names among names of other 11 participants of the “Process of 14”, remaining under house arrest at present. They can be thrown into prison for any violation of the rules.
