Officials afraid of media: wrong focus leads to nervous reaction

Minister of information of Belarus Uladzimir Rusakevich believes the media should be a “consolidated factor” in tackling the crisis.
Speaking in Minsk at a forum “Mass Media in Global Economic Crisis”, the minister noted our time is peculiar for “global character of the problems that can be solved only by joint efforts to find the way out of the situation.”
He emphasized that “the mass media can and must become a powerful consolidated factor” in this process.
Speaking about work of media amid the global financial and economic crisis, deputy minister of economy of Belarus Andrei Tur noted “responsibility of media in this environment is increasing”.
“Any incorrect focus, any word makes people not act calmly but react nervously,” he explains. A. Tur thinks “trust is a main thing for any country to overcome the crisis.”
