Supreme Court didn’t register the Party of Freedom and Progress

Uladzimir Navasyad’s aprty was denied registration for the fourth time.

On August 26, the Supreme Court of Belarus has turned down a complaint by the founders of the Party of Freedom and Progress, supporting the decision by the Ministry of Justice. The main court of the country says the Ministry of Justice didn’t violate the law denying registration to the party, Radio Svaboda reports.

Uladzimir Navasyad and party’s deputy head Syarhei Kazlouski had two days to prove there were no significant violations of the law.

Syarhei Kazlouski said the Ministry of Justice didn’t name any facts of significant violations.

“The Ministry of Justice finds faults with letters, fir example they say we need to write “o” instead of “a”. They find faults with figures,” Kazlouski said.

It has been the fourth attempt of the Party of Freedom and Progress to get official registration. The first one was made yet in 2003.

We remind that the Supreme Court has denied registration to “Nasha Viasna” human rights organization this month.
