A delegation of the German Federal Criminal Police led by its Vice President Jurgen Stock is paying a two-day visit to Minsk.
As BelaPAN learnt from the information and public relations department of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs, a meeting between Belarusian interior minister Anatoly Kulyashou and representatives of the German law enforcement agencies is expected during the visit. The parties are to discuss the state of current cooperation and prospects for further relations of the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
In 2009, four criminals on the international wanted list, who has committed crimes in Belarus, were detained in Germany. In turn, the German police expects extradition of four criminals from Belarus.
The foreign guests will get familiar with the activity of the Belarusian criminal militia, in particular the Belarus Interpol National Central Bureau and the State Expert and Criminalistic Center of the Belarusian Interior Ministry. The main goal of the visit is to study the new avenues of the cooperation with the similar organizations of the German police.
Jurgen Stock is expected to visit the Academy of the Belarusian Interior Ministry on January 14. He and the leadership of the Academy will discuss cooperation in training the personnel. Jurgen Stock is also supposed to present a report “German Police, German Federal Criminal Police Department, International Cooperation”.
We remind that Belarus, dubbed the last dictatorship in Europe, uses officers of the Interior Ministry in brutal crackdowns of peaceful opposition demonstrations, the participants of which are beaten and treated rudely. According to human rights activists, representatives of militia and secret services take part in abductions and intimidation of democratic activists. Former interior minister Uladzimir Navumau is on the list of suspected by the international community of abductions and killings of opposition leaders and a journalist. He is banned from entering the EU and US.
