The event was to take place on January 28 in Sts. Symon and Alena (Simon and Helen) Roman Catholic Church.
Such well-known performers as Kasya Kamotskaya, Eduard Akulin, Alesya Unikouskaya, Tatsyana Belanohaya, Ales Kamotski, Andrei Plyasanay planned to take part in the concert. However on the day before the organisers were told that representatives of Minsk city executive committee had phoned to the Roman Catholic parish and demanded to call off the show. The reasons for that was allegedly participation of some singers-songwriters. Organisers also believe that the true reason was the fact that the authors of the project “Belarusian Christian Hit” are founders of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party. Thus, the presentation is relocated to the Belarusian People’s Front Party headquarters, Radio Svaboda informs.
The new CD of Christian songs “Bard Christian Hit” is the 5th in the series “Belarusian Christian Hit”. It traditionally starts with “Mighty God” song, and “Our Heavenly Father” instead of the final song, but this time Ryhor Baradulin’s rhymed prayer from Ales Kamotski’s project “Psalms” read by the author is placed on the CD.
The aim of the project “Belarusian Christian Hit” is to promote ideas of Belarusian identity in the Christian community of Belarus, as well as to promote Christian values among Belarusians. CDs that have been issued in this musical series include “Belarusian Christian Hit”, “Belarusian Christian Hit-2”, “Christ is born”, “Christ is risen”. The discs “Belarusian Christian Rock”, “Belarusian Hit of a Pilgrim”, “Belarusian liturgical singing” are planned to be published as well.
