KGB to examine The Forbidden Christ movie

13

Disks with documentary film by Alyaksei Shein The Forbidden Christ have been sent to the KGB department in Hrodna region for expert examination.

The co-head of the organizing committee the Belarusian Christian Democracy party reminded that on February 11, 2010, six disks with the film had been seized at the Customs Office in Ashmyany during his trip to a meeting with Latvian politicians and Christians through Lithuania. According to Alyaksei Shein, the customs officers initiated an administrative procedure which was closed on March 15 due to the absence elements of crime.

On October 12, Shein visited the Customs Office to return his disks. He was suggested to make an application. He received a reply to it on October 25, BelaPAN reports.

As Shein thinks, the film “to some degree reflects the current situation in Belarus, where the authorities fear the public can learn the truth about repressions against the Christians in the Soviet Union”. “Demonstration of such films is unprofitable for the today’s authorities, the successors of the soviet traditions,” Shein thinks.
