A woman from Homel is asking to refuse Lukashenka in registration

Larisa Schiryakova, a member of an initiative group of Andrei Sannikov, directed an appeal to the General Prosecutor’s Office.

As BelaPAN reports, Larisa Schiryakova informs the Prosecutor’s Office about the violation of the electoral legislation from the side of an initiative group of Lukashenka and asks to “oblige the Central Electoral Commission to introduce a decision about the refusal to register the presidential candidate”.

A human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka who helped Schiryakova to prepare the appeal informed about the letter.

Its author, in particular, brings to notice of the Prosecutor’s Office that on October, 4 and October, 5 signature collecting in support of the nomination of Alyaksandr Lukashenka as a presidential candidate was carried out in the main building of the Belarusian University of Transport. Pro-rector on education Halina Chayankova- head of the initiative group of Chyhunachny district of Homel- was collecting students’ signatures.

Schiryakova considers that the legislation was violated in such a way, viz Article 61 of the Electoral Code according to which “participation of the organization administration in signature collecting, as well as compulsion in the process of signature collecting and remuneration of voters for their signing, are not admitted”. The violation of these requirements may be grounds for refusal in registration of a presidential candidate.

The woman from Homel also imparts that she appealed to the Central Electoral Commission with a complaint. She received an answer that the fact of signature collecting with the involvement of the administration of the educational establishment was not confirmed during the check. At the same time, the Central Electoral Commission does not consider the fact of voters’ signature collecting with the involvement of the administration of the educational establishment a violation of the electoral legislation, motivating it by the fact that the pro-rector was collecting signatures being on vacation.
