Belarusian student jumped off Pedagogical University building

A former student of Belarusian State Pedagogical University decided to commit suicide after he had been sent to province to serve his mandatory assignment.
The tragedy took place in the evening February 26, TUT.by reports. A former student of Maxim Tank Pedagogical University jumped off the university building at about 8:00 p.m. He was sent to a remote Belarusian town to serve the mandatory assignment. He graduated from the Natural Science Faculty in 2009.
The Natural Science Faculty confirmed the former student jumped off the building in the evening February 26.
“The student didn’t have any problems with studies and behaviour,” a faculty representative said on the phone refraining from further comments on the accident.
The militia department of the Minsk city executive committee confirmed the fact of the suicide at the university on February 26 and advised to ask the Maskouski district prosecutor’s office for details. No comments have been received from the prosecutor’s office.
We remind that students of state-subsidized programmes have to work two years in province after graduation. Labour ad living conditions are often very poor – salaries are low, former students often have no places to live.
