Lukashenka fulfilled Ostap Bender’s dream

On March 22, Belarusian dictator Alyaksandr Lukashenka visited Rio de Janeiro, where he had a meeting with President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka started the meeting with the Brazilian president with instructions what the latter should do.
“We’d like you to order your government and ministers to take our proposals with interest, so that we could find common interests on a federal level,” the press service of the Belarusian ruler quotes Lukashenka.
He noted that Belarus sees a large field of activity in Brazil, especially after adoption of a new agricultural programme.
As Lukashenka’s press service reports, the meeting between the presidents allowed to define the main directions in cooperation interested for both parties. These are “the areas promoting development of agriculture, for example supplies of agricultural equipment.” Besides, Brazil expressed its interest in assembling tractors or agricultural machinery. The country also expressed serious interest in possible supplies of heavy-duty dump trucks BelAZ.
Brazil is interested in further supplies of Belarusian potash salt. “Our country has one third of potash market share in Brazil, the cooperation will go on,” the report says.
The Brazilian president welcomed Lukashenka’s intention to open a Belarus’s embassy in the country. Brazil is going to open its embassy in Minsk.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva “emphasized Brazil’s interest in diversification of food products export to Belarus, including soybeans and meat, and increase in volumes of fertilizer trade.”
It is also reported that the head of states “confirmed the countries’ interests in cooperation to strengthen energy security, use of alternative and renewable energy sources.” They agreed on development of bilateral ties in biofuel production using the Brazilian experience in producing and using ethanol and biodiesel fuel.
According to the press service, Lukashenka and da Silva also came to an understanding that global warming and climate change were serious issues of the modern world that should be given prior attention, especially within the framework of the United Nations.
