Lukashenka met with Patrushev – not a word about gas so far

The Belarusian leader has underlined a necessity to develop cooperation with Russia in the sphere of security, despite of the economic problems that emerge between the countries.
“Here, on the western borders, a Russian man can find reliable support and friends no matter in what circumstances we are and have to work,” Lukashenka said during the meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interfax reports.
As said by Lukashenka, “we should do our utmost for the people of Belarus and Russia not to doubt even for a moment that we are developing very close cooperation in security and defense”. He noted that “no matter how our economic relations are developing, the matters related to the security of our states, the union state have long been settled and everybody should take it seriously.”
Lukashenka added that “certainly, today everything is interconnected. I think there are enough questions which have been solved buy the security councils of Belarus and Russia, but there are also unsettles problematic issues, which must be settled. There is no escaping this,” the Belarusian leader said. As said by him, “if all our civil agencies, like foreign ministries, defense ministries, had such results and such relations, there would be no problems”. “We have close cooperation in this sphere, I think we will act in this direction in the future as well,” he noted. Lukashenka invited Patrushev “to discuss the problems sincerely, directly, and set out the ways for solving them”.
