Senator McCain: Lukashenka is a brutal tyrant

US senator John McCain, on a visit to Lithuania, called Belarusian dictator Alyaksandr Lukashenka a ruthless and brutal tyrant.

He said that at a meeting with students of European Humanities University (EHU) in the Lithuanian parliament, ru.delfi.lt informs.

Answering a question from students, the US senator said Lukashenka was a “ruthless, repressive and brutal tyrant” on the wrong side of history. He expressed a hope that sooner or later Belarusians would enjoy fundamental rights, which are naturally guaranteed to everyone. According to McCain the events in the Middle East, in Egypt and other countries of the world are very dangerous, but they show that any government that deprives its people of its "God-given rights" is doomed to fail.

Republican Senator John McCain and democratic senator Joseph Lieberman lead a congressional delegation to Lithuania. The delegation had a meeting with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and talked to EHU students.
