KGB has not put Mikhalevich on wanted list yet

The investigator has seized the passport of the presidential candidate Ales Mikhalevich, the KGB of Belarus informs.

We remind that the politician, who has fled the country, did not have the main document, as his wife Milana told to journalists on March 14 in the morning. Considering such a situation of Ales Mikhalevich, who had been released on recognizance from the KGB jail, she supposed that the law-enforcing agencies had not expected him to escape.

The interlocutor of the new agency did not discuss the prospects’ of Mikhalevich’s being put on the wanted list. However he confirmed that according to the Criminal Procedure Code harsher measures of restraint could be used against a person who has violated condition of being released on recognizance. As it was informed by BelaPAN earlier, in the case of Mikhalevich it is a bail, a deposit instead of bail, house arrest or placement in custody.

We remind that on March 14 in the night Alyaksei Mikhalevich announced in his blog that he is “out of reach of the Belarusian KGB.”

The politician is accused in the “case related to “mass riots” in Minsk on December 19, 2010 (Article 293 of the Criminal Code). He was detained on December 19 late at night. In tow month, on December 19, he was released from the KGB jail on recognizance.

On February 28 at a press-conference in Minsk Mikhalevich stated that he had been released from the KGB jail after he agreed to become a KGB agent. As said by the politician, he had to agree for such a step “because of terrible conditions in the pre-trial detention centre, which could be regarded as tortures.”
