Lyabedzka: “Black Hundreds rear head”

What is happening in the state media is an awful thing.
The leader of the United Civil Party, Anatol Lyabedzka, who is involved in the case over the events on December 19, noted that the Minsk tragedy of April 11 united the people, but the authorities were trying to unite the nation forcefully by creating an image of the enemy.
“The Black Hundreds have reared head. What is happening in the state media is an awful thing. In principle, they call to pogroms, to raids against opposition members, their offices, their houses… In the Belarusian situation, one can expect everything. The situation is unpredictable,” the politician said in an interview to Radio Svaboda.
Lyabedzka calls on the opposition not to yield to emotions and tell the authorities and people of Belarus their suggestions. The authorities are in shock now, Lyabedzka says.
“In shock, the mind is sleeping, but emotions are on the rise. There are some temptations in this situation. The authorities are disappointed with the possible criminals they have caught. Who are a lathe operator and a fitter? They do not suit as a threat for the whole country. This image must be strengthened. But by whom? Naturally, by the opposition. I suppose, the talking heads on the Belarusian TV will go further and strengthen this image with international institutions and organizations. The problems with sugar and foreign currency could also be explained with enemies’ plots. This approach is absolutely inadmissible in any civilized country.”
