Anonymous comments of persons familiar with the matter continue to appear in the press.
After the “leak” when one of Russian websites posted a facial composite of the supposed criminal with a non-Slavic face, after hints about mental insanity of the suspect and publishing at one of Belarusian forums a detailed description of the video film based upon footage shot by surveillance cameras, the Russian version of “Komsomolskaya Pravda” newspaper disclosed “new details” of the terrorists’ arrest.
As it turned out, the suspect was arrested thanks to a phone call to his girlfriend the terrorist had made.
“It is impossible to identify the face of the terrorist at the surveillance cameras’ video footage – he is looking on the floor all the time, and a black knitted cap is pulled over his eyes. The evil-doer betrayed himself by a phone call. When he left the platform, before pushing the button of the remote control console and detonating the bomb, he called his girlfriend on the phone. Seeing that at the footage of the cameras, law-enforcers have made a request to mobile phone companies to find out who made phone calls at about 6 p.m. from Kastrychnitskaya (Oktyabrskaya) metro station. And the rest was just a matter of technique: to find an owner by a mobile phone number,” “Komsomolskaya Pravda” informs with a reference to a source close to the investigation.
“It happened so that just a few days before the terrorist act the suspect was fingerprinted. His fingerprints coincide with the fingerprints on the box found at the scene of the blast in 2008. The criminal realized immediately that the police would discover he had exploded the bomb on Independence Day. Understanding he has nothing to lose, he committed the act of terrorism in Minsk metro. But it is just a supposition so far,” the anonymous source concludes.
