The Collective Security Treaty Organization is “to take under control law and order” in social networks.
It will be done in order to prevent repetition of mass riots according to Tunisia and Egypt scenario, the official news agency BelTA reports with a reference to a source in the CSTO.
In addition, the source in the CSTO stressed that “no censorship or fight with dissent are meant there.” As said by him, high-level experts are already at work on the task.
“The matter is, in the modern context there is an infrastructure which allows destabilizing the situation in any, even the most flourishing country. Mobile telephony, social networks could be used for this aim, and NGOs could be engaged if necessary,” the source stated.
Speaking about cyber-security, he underlined that the factor of “shadow Internet” the US press was writing about in June, should be taken into account. It was stated then that the US Department of State had invested already more than $50 million in development of the so-called alternative network. It is created to get access into the countries where authorities block the Internet, in this way trying to stop mass protests coordinated through social networks.
