Supreme Court upholds verdict against Sevyarynets

The Supreme Court of Belarus found the verdict delivered against BCD co-chairman Pavel Sevyarynets in May 2011 lawful and fair.

Tatsyana Sevyarynets, the mother of the political prisoner, learned this from his lawyer Vadzim Mushynski.

“We are considering an opportunity of applying to international instances with the case,” Tatsyana Sevyarynets said to the BCD press service in an interview.

We remind that on May 16, judge of the Zavadski district court of Minsk Zhanna Brysina sentenced Pavel Sevyarynets to three years in an open-type prison facility for participating in a protest demonstration on December 19, 2010. On August 11, Sevyarynets arrived in the village of Kuplin (the Pruzhany district), where he serves his sentence.
