Matthias Seeger severed all ties with Minsk just two years ago

Matthias Seeger has called "a complete disgrace" the charges of having links with the official Minsk.

According to Seeger, who is quoted by Der Tagesspiegel, as police chief he was in contact with the Belarusian border guards. "It was above all about issues of border security", - said the former police chief, noting that all contacts were authorized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to him, contacts were suspended about two years ago, when Belarus “more and more began to slide towards dictatorship", writes BelaPAN.

Previously, German media reported that the reasons for the resignation of Seeger were internal conflicts within the police and connections with Belarusian officials. His opponents claimed that he was visiting sauna along with Belarus functionaries, and Belarusian law enforcers was adopting German experience of work on the mass actions.

The administration of the German police has repeatedly visited Minsk. In particular, in the middle of January 2010 a delegation, headed by Vice-President of the Federal Criminal Police Jorgen Stock, visited the country.  Stock visited the Police Academy, where he discussed issues of cooperation in the field of training. In August 2009 was held a five-day visit of Matthias Seeger to Minsk, where he met with the chairman of the State Border Committee Igor Rachkovsky.
