Evaldas Ignatavicius: Visas for Belarusians will be lifted sooner or later

Visa restrictions for Belarusians will be abolished eventually.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Evaldas Ignatavicius told about it in a press conference during the Days of Lithuania in Minsk. The event was dedicated to the start of Lithuania’s Presidency in the European Union in the second half of 2013.

"We do not intend to build new walls and we want the border with Lithuania to become invisible,” said the Lithuanian diplomat.

Minsk is the closest capital city of another state. “Therefore, there is a unique opportunity for me, as a diplomat, to get acquainted with the neighboring country with which we have long historical ties,” said Evaldas Ignatavicius.

The Days of Lithuania opened in Belarus on 3 May. According to the Ambassador, this forum will provide an opportunity for the peoples of the two countries to get to know each other better. This is the first time that the Days of Lithuania has been organized during the whole period of the Lithuanian-Belarusian relations.
