The government has corrected the costs of the Belarusian NPP construction upwards.

The Belarusian government rubberstamped the new project documentation for the construction of a nuclear power plant by its Decree #1101, reports interfax.by with a reference to the press service of the government.

The Decree approved the architectural project "Belarusian NPP" (Cost Summary) of the provisional estimated cost: 56,111,000,000 Russia rubles in 2001 prices, Br 2,9 trillion in 2006 prices and $ 340,86 million.

Herein, the entire amount of funds in the Russian rubles is aimed at building nuclear facilities directly, and the funds in foreign currency and Belarusian rubles - to prepare for the construction, create infrastructure, conduct design and survey works.

In the original project documentation, the preliminary estimated cost of the construction of nuclear power facilities amounted to 44,581 billion Russian rubles. Thus, the NPP construction cost increased by 25,9%.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built in Astravets district of the Hrodna region on the Russian project "VVER-1200". It will consist of two units of 1,200 MW each. The start of the first unit is scheduled for 2019. General Contractor for the construction of the nuclear power plant is "Atomstroyexport" (the structure of "Rosatom").
