Minsk Authorities Eventually Allowed Immortal Regiment Event

Previously, the Minsk city executive committee did not grant the permission to hold the event.

The Minsk authorities allowed the Immortal Regiment event.

It was reported by activists of the Young Rus socio-cultural public association. On May 9, they are going to participate in the procession, euroradio.fm reports.

"The Immortal Regiment event has been officially allowed today [May 8. – comment], – they told us. – The march will start at Yakub Kolas Square and go as far as Victory Square [in Minsk]."

On May 8, young people from Young Rus handed around St. George ribbons in the center of Minsk – the invitations to the procession.

On the eve, on May 7, the Minsk city executive committee did not grant the permission to hold the event. Immortal Regiment organizers were going to hold the march in spite of the ban. However, the next day, they met with the Minsk City Executive Committee leadership and "reached mutual understanding."
