Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary, asking them to allow grain to be transported through their territories, and Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that he sees no obstacles to the transit.
Magyar told RTL this on Friday while returning home from the summit in Brussels; he is quoted by Telex.
The Hungarian prime minister noted that 3–4 years ago there was a well-established procedure in place, which subsequently ceased to function. According to him, during their personal meeting, the President of Ukraine also noted that it would be a great help if corn could be transported to Western Europe by rail under seal.
“I said that if we’re only talking about transit through the country’s territory, then, of course, there are no obstacles to that,” Magyar noted.
On October 16, on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first official meeting with the Hungarian prime minister. It took place without aides or delegation members present.
After meeting with Zelenskyy, Magyar stated that it is in the interests of both countries to put their political and economic relations on a new footing.
Zelenskyy, for his part, described his meeting with Magyar as “very good.”
