Is Belarus Returning To Ration Cards?

The new head of Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade promised discounts on certain goods for "certain groups of people".

Head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aliaksei Bahdanau said on air of the Belarus-1 TV channel that the country's trading networks would provide discounts for certain groups of people.

According to him, right now there is negotiation process with trade organizations, and the agreement will be signed between them and the government in early 2022.

- Trading networks will assume a part of social obligations and will provide discounts on socially important goods for certain groups of people. We will try to restrain inflationary processes by this mechanism and to provide good quality goods for less rich layers of population, - Bahdanau promised and supposed that the mechanism will work in the middle of January 2022.

We remind that earlier the officials announced bonus cards for pensioners, low-income people and people with many children for some socially important goods. It should be noted that inflation in Belarus is a record high in the region.
