Drone From Belarus Intercepted Over Lithuania

The Lithuanian border guards are using electronic warfare means.

Lithuanian border guards landed a drone with a remote control over the Šalčininkai region. The drone was used by the Belarusian side to smuggle cigarettes, according to the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania.

Lithuanian border guards near the village of Kaniūkai (Šalčininkai region) heard suspicious sounds similar to the sounds of a drone in the dark on the evening of August 8. After some time, the Varėnos border group of the State Border Guard Service (VSAT), using night vision devices, spotted a flying object in the sky over the Tribonis checkpoint.

The border guards applied electronic warfare means to intercept the drone. They took control of the drone and landed it. During the inspection of the device, it turned out that it was a homemade drone with a remote control. The border guards found 360 packs of Belarusian-made NZ Gold cigarettes inside the device.

The person who created the drone and controlled it has not yet been identified.

Charter97.org reported earlier that the Lida border guards discovered a cache of drones 4 kilometers from the border.
