Syrskyi: Russia's Attempts To Break Through Ukrainian Defence Were Stopped

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the situation in the Kharkiv region and more.

The situation at the front remains aggravated: the enemy is actively attacking Ukrainian forces in several directions in order to advance deep into the territory of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian forces are engaged in fierce defensive battles, the attempts of the Russian occupiers to break through the Ukrainian defence have been stopped.

This was announced today, May 12, by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, FREEDOM informs.

“We know the enemy's plans and react flexibly to all the actions. To strengthen the defence, all necessary measures are taken and decisions, including personnel, are made promptly," he informed.

Syrsky told about the situation in the Kharkiv region, noting that this week it has deteriorated significantly.

"Currently, fighting continues in the border areas along the state border with the Russian Federation. The situation is difficult, but the Defence Forces of Ukraine are doing everything to hold the defensive lines and positions, defeating the enemy," said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He called the situation in the Kupiansk, Siversk, Lyman, Pokrovsk directions very dynamic: there are hot battles, in some areas the enemy has partial success, in others the Defence Forces defeated the enemy and improve their tactical position.

In the Kramatorsk direction, according to Oleksandr Syrskyi, the enemy does not abandon attempts to seize the city of Chasiv Yar, continues offensive actions east of the city, and also tries to restore the lost position in the Klishchiivka area to no avail.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that, despite the difficult situation at the front, the units are being rotated to rest servicemen and restore the combat capability of the brigades.
