Moscow Has Been Under Drone Attack Since Early This Morning: An Oil Refinery Is On Fire, And Plumes Of Smoke Are Rising Over The City

The Russian capital is being "finished off."

On the morning of Thursday, June 18, drones launched a massive attack on Moscow . Russians are complaining about drones flying overhead, the sounds of explosions, and a fire at an oil refinery.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Russian Telegram channels.

Starting at 4 a.m., footage began circulating in various public channels showing drones flying over Moscow and the Moscow region.

Literally 40 minutes later, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin began reporting on the alleged shooting down of drones flying toward the Russian capital. As of 5:43 a.m., there were already 33 such drones.

At the same time, and at least until 6 a.m., more and more drone footage kept appearing online. In addition, plumes of smoke and fires were reported on the outskirts of Moscow and elsewhere.

According to OSINT sources, one of the strikes hit the oil refinery in Kapotnya (a district on the outskirts of Moscow). After the strike, a major fire broke out near the facility; at least two storage tanks are on fire.

Footage circulating online also showed that some buildings in the city had been damaged.

Mayor Sobyanin reported that drone debris had fallen on the grounds of the “Sadovod” shopping center and that one of the buildings had sustained minor damage. However, he has remained silent about the attack on the oil refinery.

Updated

Sobyanin officially acknowledged that an oil refinery in Moscow was attacked.

“Air defense forces continue to repel a massive attack. Several drones managed to reach the Moscow Oil Refinery. Measures are being taken to address the consequences,” he wrote.
