"Bring A Certificate": A Belarusian Mother Of Many Children Was Labeled A "freeloader"

She had to fight it out with the bureaucrats.

A resident of Chechersk, a mother of three, accidentally discovered that she had been listed on the “freeloaders” registry. Because of this, she had to pay 100% of her utility bills and 50% of her children’s.

“This wasn’t mentioned anywhere. I didn’t even realize I was paying the full rate,” said a woman named Amina.

She shared her story on TikTok. According to her, she is very dissatisfied with how officials are handling things, since they have all the necessary information. “No one said, ‘You have three children; bring a certificate.’ All I had to do was bring a certificate showing that the child attends preschool,” the woman complained.

In the end, she was refunded the overpayment, but only after she filed a claim and provided the necessary documents.
