A strange statement by the U.S. president.
U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not believe China and Russia will help Iran. This was reported by Reuters.
On Monday, October 12, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had seen comments from critics and opponents regarding assistance to Tehran from Beijing and Moscow. “If they are helping at all, it’s at a very low level, but I don’t believe they’re doing it at all. They have a lot to lose, and we would find out about it—very quickly,” he added.
Earlier, the White House chief had spoken of the “neutrality” of Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the U.S. war with Iran. In July, Trump expressed confidence that China and Russia would not help Tehran, but warned that if Moscow and Beijing did intervene, “it would have very bad consequences for them.”
Last month, Trump warned Xi against supporting Iran during the Chinese leader’s visit to Washington. According to the U.S. ambassador to China, he received assurances that Beijing would not do so.
The war between the U.S. and Iran has been ongoing since February 28, when American and Israeli forces attacked Iran, and Tehran responded with strikes against Israel and Gulf states hosting U.S. bases.
