Yushchenko Wrote An Open Letter To Trump
Viktor Yushchenko

Ukraine's third president recalled an important event that took place thirty years ago.

The third president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko wrote an open letter to U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his agreement with the Russian leader regarding diesel fuel.

“It looks outrageous and hurts when there are calls for Ukraine to ‘stop,’ when we’re told who to elect and how to live, or when the green light is given to trade in Russian diesel.

Every dollar from this diesel fuel is a missile purchased that will fly into our homes tomorrow.

To trade with the aggressor during such a bloodbath means fueling its war machine,” wrote the former president of Ukraine.

Yushchenko also wrote about events that took place more than thirty years ago, when the Soviet Union was collapsing.

He recalled that Ukraine then possessed the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal: “We voluntarily renounced these weapons for the sake of world peace, trusting the words and signatures of the great powers.”

“In 1994, the United States, together with its partners, signed the Budapest Memorandum, providing Ukraine with official guarantees of security, sovereignty, and the inviolability of our borders.

America assumed a moral and legal obligation to be our shield and protector. How can we forget today—when we are under attack by a treacherous enemy—that Great America signed this document?” Yushchenko wrote.

On October 9, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Russia on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the U.S. and global markets.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Trump’s decision to unilaterally lift sanctions against Russia and allow it to export diesel fuel is “unfair and dishonest.”
