The Armenian prime minister proposes a territorial exchange.
The borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan need to be redrawn to eliminate enclaves and exclaves. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan outlined this proposal on his Telegram channel.
The Armenian politician believes that his country is entitled to a territory of 29,743 square kilometers. According to Pashinyan, the processes of defining and demarcating borders should be conducted based on the 1991 Almaty Declaration.
The prime minister paid special attention to enclaves and exclaves: there should be none on either side of the border, and the states should exchange territories of exactly the same size.
“Yerevan and Baku must leave each other alone on all issues—including Karabakh, Gardian, Shirman, Nakhchivan, or Western Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan stated.
In addition, Pashinyan advocated for the accessibility of all roads and transportation routes so that citizens can move freely throughout the territories of both countries. Communication routes, he said, must remain open, including for travel from Armenia to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory and from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through Armenian territory.
