That's a great idea.
A tourist from Russia asked Belarusians for help in choosing souvenirs and gifts for his fellow countrymen.
“My fellow Belarusians, what should I bring back from Minsk as gifts and souvenirs?” he asked. “Lard and sausage are already on the list!”
Some Belarusians suggested buying condensed milk, linen products, “Kommunarka” candies, “Narochansky” bread, various alcoholic beverages, Bobruisk marshmallows, and cranberries in powdered sugar.
Many commenters also suggested looking for souvenirs with the correct name of our country, explaining that most Russians don’t know it. The website Charter97.org lists some comments:
— Magnets with the word “Belarus” on them. Just imagine how surprised your compatriots will be.
— Postcards, T-shirts, caps—any merchandise with the country’s name on it. And plenty of it—educate your people.
— A banner that says “Belarus.”
— A textbook on the history of Belarus.
— Anything you see in a souvenir shop with the country’s name on it.
— “Belarus” T-shirts—I saw some at GUM yesterday.
