Ukraine is ready to stop attacking Russian oil refineries on one condition.
Ukraine may make concessions to the U.S. and halt strikes on Russian oil refineries, but in return is asking Washington for a favor. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Financial Times.
“Can you provide me with Patriot missiles? After all, if I don’t attack them—since you asked me not to—they will attack me. It’s only fair that you give me something with which I can defend myself. That’s the bare minimum I’m asking for,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Against the backdrop of the diesel fuel agreement, U.S. President Donald Trump announced an alleged energy truce between Ukraine and Russia. Following this, Ukraine suspended strikes on Russian oil refineries. Moscow, however, did not stop targeting Ukraine’s energy sector. In an interview with the Financial Times, Zelenskyy reported that against this backdrop, he had lifted the ban on strikes against Russian oil infrastructure.
Today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck an oil refinery in Ryazan.
