Solodukha Described How He “pulled A Fast One” In An Ad That Angered Lukashenko
Alexander Solodukha

The singer called it a "triumph."

The singer who performed the song “Kruti Gusya” in a commercial for the Maxline betting company didn’t know that the ad would be used to promote the betting company. The singer revealed this in an interview with the hosts of the “HATA HAUS” podcast.

The singer claims he didn’t know that Maxline, the company that invited him to film the commercial, operates in the gambling industry.

“I thought it was just some ordinary company. I knew there was a [namesake] soccer club that had moved up from the first division to the top division—and immediately took first place. I figured we’d be promoting them,” Solodukha said.

The actor noted that the ad creators spent a long time editing the video. When they showed him the final version, he was surprised, as he hadn’t expected artificial intelligence to be used in the creation of the video featuring him.

“And when they sent [the final video], of course, I was stunned, too. That goose—and there I am flying out from somewhere, crashing into a wall, hitting it, falling, a tooth flies out—and I’m flying off somewhere after that tooth,” the singer recounted the video’s plot in a disjointed manner.

Solodukha called the video, in which he sings “Spin, Spin the Goose,” a triumph of advertising, since Alexander Lukashenko took notice of it. At a meeting in Minsk on September 10 the dictator expressed outrage at the abundance of materials used to promote betting companies in Belarus.

“What do you call them: ‘spin the goose’—you’ve hung these ads everywhere. It’s gotten to the point where it seems [as if] my own family is involved in this. My family… They’re harassing me every single day. They’re hounding me so that I’ll pay attention to this,” said Lukashenko. “What’s going on in this country: everyone here is ‘spinning the goose.’ Please take note, Dmitry Nikolaevich (Lukashenko’s chief of staff Dmitry Krutoy. — Ed.), and take this seriously.”

After the shoot, Solodukha was “paid via bank transfer” for his fee. The singer sees nothing objectionable in this kind of advertising.

“Although my sons, my close circle, and even my drivers have already told me: ‘Oh, things are going to get heated.’ It turns out that there are casino ads, and a lot of people seem to be gambling there and losing big money—fortunes and apartments. It’s every person’s right to gamble or not to gamble—that makes sense, right? I don’t gamble, and my sons don’t either,” Solodukha stated.
