The list of countries whose citizens will be required to obtain an electronic permit includes members of the Eurasian Economic Union, which, among others, comprises Belarus and Russia.
Electronic permits will be introduced in phases, beginning November 1, 2026. They will become mandatory as of July 1, 2027, and failure to present one will be grounds for denial of entry into Kazakhstan.
The rules approved by the government state that electronic entry permits will be issued free of charge by internal affairs agencies in coordination with national security agencies via a digital platform.
Foreign nationals must submit an application for the permit via the digital platform no later than 72 hours before their planned date of entry. When submitting the application, they will be required to undergo identification or authentication.
Electronic entry permits will be issued for a period of 180 calendar days
At passport control upon entry into Kazakhstan, a foreign national must present the passport or identity document used to apply for the electronic entry permit.
Notification of the revocation of an electronic entry permit or the denial of an electronic entry permit to a foreign national will be sent via a digital platform.
