A Journalist Stumped Hegset With A Pointed Question

The Pentagon chief was stumped.

Journalists cornered Pentagon chief Pete Hegset with tough questions about the U.S. administration’s position on the war in Ukraine. The incident occurred ahead of the U.S. official’s first official bilateral meeting with British Defense Minister Wes Stretton.

According to Sky News, representatives of the European press tried to get Hegset to explain Washington’s approach to the war in Ukraine.

“Mr. Secretary, are you Vladimir Putin’s puppet when it comes to Ukraine? Is Vladimir Putin playing you like a violin?” asked one of the journalists.

Pete Hegset did not answer these questions. He merely responded with a reserved smile.
