The President of Ukraine said that he was "substantive."
On Tuesday, October 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He reported this on his Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy described the conversation as substantive. The parties discussed the ballistic missile interceptors that Ukraine needs, early warning of ballistic attacks by Russia, as well as the situation regarding access to Starlink and Starshield.
“It was a substantive conversation—about important issues. I am grateful for the willingness to help and for the clear position. First, there are the ballistic missile interceptors needed to protect human lives. Second, early warning of Russian ballistic attacks, which is of vital importance. Third, the situation surrounding Starlink/Starshield, which must be resolved,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that he would contact Rubio again soon to exchange information.
“Of course, all of this is taking place against the backdrop of our diplomatic efforts to put an end to this terrible war and the constant killing of people. We agreed that we will be in touch again soon to exchange information. Thank you, Marco, for your constructive approach! Thank you to everyone in America who supports fair approaches,” Zelenskyy concluded.
Earlier reports indicated that the U.S. had suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine, allegedly due to strikes on Russian oil refineries. As a result, the Armed Forces did not receive warnings about Russian attacks involving ballistic missiles on October 12, 13, and, to some extent, October 14.
