The Kremlin miscalculated.
A former employee of the Russian Ministry of Defense and well-known Z-blogger Mikhail Zvinchuk (the “Rybary” channel) spoke quite candidly spoke quite candidly about the state of Russia’s defense. According to him, the Russian authorities failed to fully anticipate the gravity of the war they got themselves into, and now Russian businesses and ordinary citizens are paying the price for this short-sightedness, writes "Dialog".
The propagandist admitted that the Russian Ministry of Defense is incapable of protecting the country from Ukrainian missile and drone strikes. According to him, the ministry is mired in debt.
“Our Ministry of Defense, for all its grandeur, is unable to ensure the protection of every facility. Our country is huge… Our Ministry of Defense is deeply in debt. Unfortunately, they owe a huge amount of money to the railroads and various banks that finance their initiatives. Someday, they’ll probably pay it off. But right now, they don’t have the means to fully provide for themselves, as shameful as that may sound… “Yes, we’re in deep trouble! Yes, these are the problems we’re facing right now. Yes, we weren’t prepared for this kind of war or this kind of confrontation. We weren’t prepared for there to be so many drones,” the Z-blogger stated.
He noted that Russian businesses will have to defend themselves against attacks on their own. “This isn’t happening because life is good. It’s happening because there are simply no other options. And if businesses don’t take matters into their own hands, no one will protect them… Businesses must get involved, because they’ll lose their assets… This risks further social tension… We ourselves asked Yandex and others to actively join the ‘Special Military Operation’! Well, now they’re getting involved. What’s the problem? The Ministry of Defense can’t protect everyone. The Ministry of Defense lacks the capacity, no matter how disparaging that may sound,” Zvinchuk stated.
