Ukraine Has Received Strong Support From Three New Countries

A meeting of foreign ministers will take place in Istanbul today.

On Friday, October 22, a meeting will be held in Istanbul between the foreign ministers of Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, who will discuss a number of important issues, including ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. This is reported by the publication Anadolu.

According to Anadolu, this will be the first time representatives of the aforementioned countries have gathered in this format. Previously, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan had not directly participated in negotiations aimed at finding ways to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, although these countries do provide Ukraine with multifaceted assistance.

In Istanbul, the foreign ministers of the R4+E3 countries will discuss not only ways to end the war in Ukraine, but also security in the Black Sea region, the Palestinian issue, the situation in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz, as well as developments related to Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

Egypt is interested in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine because it needs Ukrainian agricultural products, primarily wheat. For this reason, it will seek ways to end the war.

As a reminder, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan previously called on Ukraine and Russia to agree on ceasing attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea.
