The U.S. will stop providing aid to Israel at the end of 2026, as the country no longer needs this support and is capable of purchasing weapons on its own. This was stated by White House Chief Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News.
“We’ve been providing them with $4 billion—and we’re still providing it now—but at the end of the year, these payments will stop,” he said.
According to the U.S. leader, the support included “goods and money.” At the same time, he noted, Israel will still be able to purchase U.S. weapons.
Trump emphasized that he had been discussing the termination of this aid for several years with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He added that Netanyahu himself had raised the issue.
“They don’t need it. Israel is a very prosperous country,” Trump said.
Fox News notes that the current agreement provides for approximately $3.8 billion in aid annually through 2028.
In May, Netanyahu stated in an interview with CBS News that he supports a gradual phase-out of U.S. military aid over the next ten years.
When asked about the need to review financial relations between the two countries, Netanyahu noted that the annual $3.8 billion in U.S. aid to Israel “should be phased out.” According to him, the process can begin “right now.”
