They were sent by the island of Guam.

The first results from the U.S. midterm elections came in from Guam—a Pacific territory where, due to the International Date Line, Election Day begins earlier than anywhere else in the country.

This is reported by The Guardian on Tuesday, November 3.

According to unofficial results from Guam’s election commission, Republicans regained the island’s governorship, while Democrats won a congressional seat.

According to preliminary results, Republican Vicente Ada will become governor of Guam. At the same time, voters elected Democrat Alicia Ann Garrido Limtiaco as a non-voting delegate to Congress, taking the seat away from the Republicans.

Trump called the results a strong showing for his party.

“Guam, which has always been considered a Democratic stronghold, has just announced an early victory for the REPUBLICANS in the main race—for governor. Congratulations, Tony Ada! In addition, the Republicans won a majority in the Senate. I hope this is a sign of what lies ahead for us!” he wrote on his social media account.
