Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has been reported about an open letter to him from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, which proposes a face-to-face meeting for the sake of ending the war.
The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this, Russian media reported, according to Dialog.UA.
Peskov did not say how Moscow received the Ukrainian leader's letter, as there are no official channels of communication between Ukraine and Russia. He also did not say how Putin reacted to Zelensky's message so as "not to get ahead of himself."
The Kremlin spokesman said that the subject of Zelensky's letter "will figure one way or another" at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with Putin's participation.
We recall that the plenary session of SPIEF-2026 will be held today, June 5.
Peskov added that Putin was also reported on the reactions of world leaders to Zelensky's letter.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote an open letter to Vladimir Putin on June 4, offering to hold face-to-face talks to negotiate an end to the war as "leaders decide key issues." In the letter, the Ukrainian president noted that the Russians are suffering very heavy losses in the war, and Russia has found itself in almost complete international isolation. Zelensky suggested ending the war in a way that is fair and with mandatory security guarantees for Ukraine. He believes that a meeting with the Kremlin host could take place in any neutral place.
