ISW: Ukraine Has Begun A New Phase Of Its Crimean Operation

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have focused their attacks on Russian ships.

Ukraine has moved to a new phase of isolating the occupied Crimea. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have focused their strikes on Russian ships delivering fuel to the peninsula by sea.

This is stated in a new report by the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to U.S. analysts, the change in tactics is due to the fact that Ukraine’s sustained strikes on land-based logistics have forced the aggressor country to make greater use of maritime routes to supply Crimea with fuel.

The ISW draws particular attention to the attack on the night of July 8–9. According to Robert Brovdy , commander of the Unmanned Systems Force , Ukrainian drones struck 14 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov, including 12 fuel tankers, a tugboat, and a dry cargo ship.

According to him, 35 Russian vessels of various types have been struck over the past four days.

The ISW believes that Ukrainian strikes on maritime routes will continue to complicate the supply of the occupied Crimea, and the occupiers’ problems with logistics and supplying the peninsula will only worsen.
