The United Kingdom Has Reached A Deal With The EU To Provide €90 Billion In Aid To Ukraine

The European Union has authorized Kyiv to use loan funds to purchase weapons from British companies.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that British defense companies will be able to bid on contracts funded under the EU’s €90 billion ($102.6 billion) program to support Ukraine. This was reported by the British government’s press service on its website.

The agreement is the result of negotiations between the UK and the European Union that began after the European Political Community summit in May. The British government called it an important step in developing cooperation between London and Brussels in the field of defense and security.

According to Starmer, the agreement will secure orders for British defense companies, create jobs, and strengthen the country’s defense-industrial complex. The size of the UK’s contribution to the program will depend on the value of the contracts awarded to British companies.

Officials in London noted that they have already allocated £3.75 billion ($4.8 billion) in military aid to Ukraine this year and remain committed to providing Kyiv with £3 billion ($3.8 billion) annually—“as much as is needed”—.
